How to Prepare Your Newborn for Their First Photoshoot: A Parent’s Checklist
A newborn photoshoot is a beautiful experience, but preparation is key to keeping it peaceful. Here is our essential checklist to ensure a relaxed session for both you and your baby.
1. The Feeding Strategy
We recommend feeding your baby right before you leave for the studio, or immediately upon arrival. A well-fed baby is a sleepy, contented baby, which makes those adorable curled-up poses much easier to capture.
2. Keep Them Awake Prior to the Session
Try to keep your newborn awake for 1–2 hours before the shoot. A warm bath or some gentle playtime helps build up their sleep drive so they fall into a deep, peaceful slumber once the camera starts clicking.
3. What to Pack
- Extra diapers and wipes (accidents happen!)
- Pacifier (even if your baby doesn't regularly use one, it can help soothe them between poses)
- Change of clothes for parents (in case of spit-ups during family portraits)
- Baby's favorite feed formula/breast milk bottles
