The Difference Between Edited and Retouched Photos: A Simple Explanation
When booking a professional photographer, you will often see the terms 'editing' and 'retouching' used. While they sound similar, they refer to two different stages of the post-production process.
1. Image Editing: The Base Adjustment
Editing refers to adjusting the global values of the photograph. This includes correcting the exposure, white balance, contrast, highlights, shadows, and color grading to align the image with our signature warm style.
2. Image Retouching: The Fine Polish
Retouching is a detailed pixel-level process. For newborn sessions, this includes gently smoothing skin, removing baby acne, fixing temporary redness, removing lint from wraps, or cleaning up tiny blemishes to deliver a flawless final print.
